I regard this as typical T. wilsoniana and very different from T. montana. Typical wilsoniana is dwarf tulip of more or less rocky open mountain slopes. Flowers are comparatively large for length of stem, brilliant vermilion-red with pointed tips and small blackish-blue centre. Leaves undulated. Only 15 cm high. My stock originates from Arvaz, Turkmenistan Kopet-Dag. Excellent pot plant, but I grew it for many years in outside garden on very well drained sandy soil.
