Allium douglasii subsp. douglasii (Code: 14)

Allium douglasii subsp. douglasii
zoom Zoom image
A robust allium with an untold number of bright pink, vase-shaped flowers in congested, up to 7 cm large umbels on up to 25 cm long scapes. There is a soft feathery appearance to the inflorescence due to the narrow flower segments and exserted, dark red-violet anthers. The large, erect, sickle-shaped leaves contribute to the impressive display of flower and foliage. From Blue Mtns. in California where it grows at alt. of 1700 m.
